New Year's Concert in Palermo

Located in the central Piazza Verdi in Palermo, the Teatro Massimo is the largest opera house in Italy and one of the largest in Europe—ranking third in architectural scale after the Opéra National in Paris and the Vienna State Opera. This stunning neoclassical building, constructed at the end of the 19th century, has become a true symbol of Palermo and is an unmissable destination for opera and ballet enthusiasts.

A source of local pride, the historic Teatro Massimo is an architectural complex of grand proportions, admired for its beauty and perfect acoustics, featuring magnificent reception rooms, galleries, and monumental staircases.

The theater also served as the backdrop for several scenes in Francis Ford Coppola's film The Godfather Part III, starring Al Pacino. In the movie, Michael Corleone travels to Palermo to witness his son's debut in Pietro Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana.

The best way to experience the magic of this historic landmark is certainly to combine your stay and visit to Palermo with one of the scheduled performances. The rich program includes operas, concerts, and ballets for a sensational 2026-2027 season.
